Mapleton Hews By Mrs. Lyle W. Paulson Phone HUnter Taking the place of Mrs. Amanda Binks as Mapleton news correspondent is Mrs. Lyle VV. (Mable) Paulson, whose column begins this week. Mrs. Paulsen has had some experience in correspondence and is looking forward to rep-resenting Mapleton in the news columns of the Springville Herald. She invites church groups, civic clubs and social organ-izations to phone her any news items concerning their group. Also individuals who go away for a time, or news of visitors is welcomed. There is no charge for a news item. Some former Mapleton res-idents were visiting here over the weekend and it was pleas- ant again to greet Mr., and Mrs. George Pate, and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Jones and their child-ren. On Thursday, October 25th, the Top Pilots of the Maple- ton Ward presented a fine picture of their achievements and aims in a delightful pro-gram for their parents. Under direction of their teachers, Mrs. Nellie Allen and Mrs. Bernita Hurst, the boys receiv-ed their "wings" and had these pinned on by one of their parents. Lunch typical of that which was eaten in the days of Christ, was served by the children. On Friday night the Maple- ton Fire Department responded to a call and spent five hours in Spanish Fork Canyon, when a large tanker of gas was over-turned on the highway. Traffic was held up for many hours but fortunately the gasoline never burst into flame. No one was injured. Mr. and Mrs. J. Norman Graves had a delightful visit with the brother of Lois Grav-es this past weekend. Captain Stanley Brereton of the U.S. Air Force and his family stop-ped off here as they traveled from Castle Air Force Base at Sacramento, Calif., to North Dakota. Mrs. Merle Best is recover-ing from surgery at the Utah Valley Hospital. j Hoover Vacuums s i hoover : Convertible S-A-- " A Nothing clean your Jj r rugs as welt at m the easygoing Wltll l Convertible these 59.95 : L-O- -V A HOOVER J CONSTELLATION PAN " I I The canister that TALL J 1 I offers more of jjfef2T CLEARANCE j jP 39.95 PRICES! j Zjriel5, 3nc. iiiiiiiiiiiiihiihiiiiiiiiiiiiiS THESE VALUES STARTED 60 YEARS AGO WITH MR.
