J " -" ' i f ; ; V ' " J 3 Mary Ann Schriever Editor's Note A series of "Students of the Week" is be-ing published in the Spring-ville Herald,, recognizing stu-dents in the senior class of the high school student body. A student-facult- y committee se-lects the student taking into consideration such attributes as citizenship, school service, at-titude and use of capacities. Mary Ann Schriever Mary Ann Schriever editor of the high school yearbook believes the busiest time around school comes when the yearbook meets its final dead-line. This attractive senior miss whose parents are Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Schriever, says the yearbook has been the hardest and most enjoyable work she has had in high school. Mary Ann has worked hard to pre-pare herself for this job. She has always liked to write and has won awards for her writ-ing. She is an excellent stu-dent and has the ability to organize and lead those who work with her. Last year Miss Schriever was the assitant editor of the yearook and be-came acquainted then with many of the responsibilities included in this work. She has been prominent in other types of activity and was vice president of the FHA; a member of the Pep Club and Steno Club. She is a member of the Springville Playhouse and appeared in a leading role in their production of "Our Town." Miss Schreiver also performs in school and church programs as a pianist. Mary Ann has established a remarkable record in church activity, having been a junior Sunday School organist and is presently a song leader. She has earned 5 individual awards for church activity and has received the Mia Joy and Sil-ver Gleaner awards. Mary Ann has won a scho-larship to attend BYU where she plans to follow the exam-ple set by her mother and study elementary education. Riders work on grounds Six men from the Hobble Creek Riding club were at the Rodeo grounds west of town Saturday to help get the area in shape for summer activity. At noon Mrs. Sam Kinser, wife of the club president and Mrs. Eldon Childs the men surprised with a picnic lunch with soft drinks furnished by M. D. Peay. In attendance were, beside the president: Howard Thorpe, Carl Boyer, Robert Palfreyman, Earl Free-man, Eldon Child. Members were invited to par-ticipate in work at the grounds at the regular dinner-meetin- g Wednesday at Barts, attended by members and their wives. Carl Boyer was in charge of the program in which Robert Tasker of the State Fish and Game, showed films of mule deer. President Kinser reported on the district meeting.
