Han-son. ' It was a difficult job to se-lect the winners and the judg-ing was extremely close, ac-cording to Mrs. Melva Smith, chairman of the committee. The girls will spend a week at the USU at Logan from June 12 to 19 learning the fundamentals of good city, county, state and federal gov-ernment. They are being sponsored by the Springville Banking Co., the Kiwanis club, the Federated Womens Clubs of Springville and the Legion Auxiliary. The American Legion Aux-iliary Tuesday selected four girls to attend Girls State and four alternates from a list of 22 top Juniors submitted from the high school. Each girl was interviewed by the Legion Auxiliary offi-cers, and a representative from the Federated Club council. Those receiving the highest number of votes taking into consideration scholarship, lea-dership, personality, talent and other attributes included: Charleen Lewis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Lewis; Lynne Robertson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. LeMont Robert-son; Bette Snelson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Galen' John-son and Ann Roylance, daugh-ter of Mr. and Mrs. Finley Roylance. Bird was enjoyed by members of the Ladies Liter-ary club and a few friends at a special party Wednesday evening of last week. Guests were invited to wear house dresses and bring a cu-shion which came in handy when a delicious Chinese din-ner was served along with chop-stick- s. Grapefruit brought by the hostess from her yard in Arizona, was also included on the menu. After the meal, the group was entertained by Ivan Hall, Camp Cottonwood DUP Camp Cottonwood will meet at the home of Helen Reynolds, 109 North Main St. Friday evening, beginning at 7:30 p.m. All members of the camp are urged to attend. |
