Show Students rate in music event Ten Springville students took part in the district Federated Music Festival at the Springville Spring-ville Stake House Saturday of a total of 88 from Provo, Spanish Span-ish Fork and Springville. Five of these participating from this city were judged superior su-perior on the piano including: Larry Wilson, Shirley Jacobb-sen, Jacobb-sen, Michael Clyde, Mary Parker Par-ker and Mary Lynn Huff. It was the sixth consecutive year Mary Parker had been judged superior and she was presented present-ed with her second gold certificate certi-ficate and for Shirley Jacobsen it was the third consecutive year and she also was presented present-ed with a gold certificate. Ratings of excellent were won by John C. Judd, Reed and Barbara Jessee, Joan and Douglas Paulson of Mapleton. Purpose of the Festival is to encourage talent and inspire students to greater accomplishment. accomplish-ment. Mrs. Zara Tonks was chairman chair-man of the event and judges included: Robert Smith of Provo; Josephine Harper of Salt Lake and Vera Frey of Ogden. |
