Mrs. John Strong is the new nt and Mrs. Stewart Whiting, secre-tary. . Highlight of the program was presentation of a one-a- ct play by the Junior high speech class. Mrs. Dean Bird presided and thanked those who had assisted during the year. Refreshments concluded the evening program. DR. LaMar T. Empey, di-rector of the Pine Hills Treat-ment Center and director of the Provo Experiment in Ju-venile Delinquency Rehabilita-tion, will be the speaker at the Jefferson PTA meet next Wednesday, at 7:30' p.m., in the school auditorium. A grad-uate of Washington State with a Ph. D., he came here in 1955, and is presently on leave from the BYU to serve in his present position. Sub-ject of his talk will be, "Fami-lies and , Delinquency in a Changing Society." It will also be election night for the PTA. BROOKSIDE PTA will fea-ture a tklk by Jennie Camp-bell of the BYU on the sub-ject, "Promotions, Automatic or Earned," at their meeting next Wednesday at 7:30 p.m., announces President Joy Gled-hil- l. Parents are also given a special iivitation to attend the school's Science Fair Friday from 3 until 4 p.m., and in the evening from 7 to 8 p.m. The PTA will have refreshments. yjewA looted . . . Word has been received by relatives here that Verl and Carol Fullmer Miner have just adopted a new little girl born March 27. She is named Linda Sue. The Miners make their home near San Diego, Calif., and have an adopted son Ro-bert Lynn, 2. An English druggist, John Walker made the first fric-tion match in 1827. Kristine Sumsion, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Sum-sion, who was a year old April 9, is congratulated this week on this important occa sion. Her picture was taken at Modern Art Studio, where other ds may have their picture taken free for the first birthday when ar-rangements are made early. The recent plants add to the grand total of 93,-60- 6 chukars which have now been released into 117 planting sites in all 29 counties. More chukars for hunters Some 3000 brood Chukar partridge birds are being held at the Springville and Price farms to continue the program during the year ahead after a total of 2,887 adult birds were released into 23 planting sites over the state during the past week. These plants marked, the be-ginning of the tenth year of the program to establish ' the chukar in many of Utah's range land areas where little upland bird life has previously been found. The birds are doing very well in many sections of the state, fish and. game offi- - |
