Show Mapleton holds line on mill levy for year Mapleton city council adopted adop-ted a 14.3 mill . levy the same as last year at the regular council meeting Monday evening, even-ing, dividing the total levy as follows: General, 5 mills; roads, 3.5 mills; parks, 2 mills; hall, 8 mills; public safety, 3 mills. The council decided that if more money was necessary to run the city, the added expense would be placed on the water rates and meters. The county fire warden met with the council and presented the emergency fire ordinance which the council endorsed. It makes unlawful the starting of fires in dry grass or debris without permit. Mapleton city is going forward for-ward with the organization of their fire fighting plans which includes new equipment. Both the iLions club and the Jaycees have assisted in the project and all other citizens are working enthusiastically to promote pro-mote the project. Shelby Hooper, seven-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Preston Pres-ton Hooper of Mapleton received receiv-ed a severe cut on his head Wednesday evening when he ran into a barbed wire fence while playing near the ball park. Several stitches were required to close the wound. |
