Show Ladies Literary Club Has Christmas Party In an old-fashioned Christmas Christ-mas setting complete with gaily gai-ly lighted tree, candles, mistletoe mistle-toe and holly, members of the Ladies Literary club were guests at a Christmas party Thursday evening at the home of Mrs. Minnie Groesbeck. Mrs. Irene Moon and Mrs. Golden Johnson were co-hostesses. Just before luncheon was served at small tables, Rea Straw, vice-president in charge read Christmas thoughts and Mrs. Groesbeck offered grace. The time after the luncheon was spent with games conducted conduc-ted by Mrs. Melva Smith and Mrs. Manila Brown. Later Christmas carols were enjoyed with Mrs. Merle Schreiner at the piano. Traditional numbers given at the club's annual Christmas party included the reading from Luke on the birth of the Christ child by Mrs. Jessie Dalton and the reading of Eugene Eu-gene Field's Sugar Plum tree by Rea Straw. She then directed direct-ed members to the sugar plum tree on which hung tiny bells and cards with numbers corresponding cor-responding to gifts under the Christmas tree. At this time also Helen Anderson An-derson invited each member to choose an African violet from a table full of blooming plants which she gave with special Christmas wishes. The party concluded with the serving of Christmas candy, fruit cake, cookies and punch by the hostesses to eighteen club members. |
