Show Christmas Parties, Guests Usher In Festive Holiday Season at Mapleton I daughter Lorraine Wetherall of Nephi during the past week. Christmas music was furnished by the Singing Mothers Mo-thers of the ward under the leadership - of Mrs. Beth Jen- has been training as a crane operator and is a member of the Utah National Guard. He plans to enroll at the BYU. Mr. and Mrs. William Jackson Jack-son enjoyed a visit from her parents Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Wall of Salt Lake City. S. Lavell Bird is home after spending the past month in North Dakota and Canada where he has been employed by the National Crop Insurance Insur-ance Association. Mrs. Frank Oberhansley and children of California are spending the holidays at the home of her parents Mr. and Mrs. S. Lavell Bird and with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Oberhansley of Spanish Fork. Her husband will poin her later la-ter and they will return home together. The Christmas party for the Sierra Bonita Club was held at the home of Mrs. Mabel Han sen where supper was served at a long table bright with Christmas decor Several games of "500" followed supper and gifts were exchanged by Beth Jensen, Louise Jensen, Myrl Diamond, Gen Allan, Fern Crandall, Larie Warren, Iva Snow, Barbara Murray, Iris Dibble, Blanch Tew, Rebecca Fullmer and the hostess The Mapleton Second ward Explorers sponsored a cake sale Wednesday to raise funds to finance their organization. Enjoying a vacation trip to Santa Clara, California where she is a guest at the home of her daughter and son-in-law and family Mr. and Mrs. David Miner, is Mrs. Helen Wiscombe. While in California she will also visit two sisters, Mrs. Clifford Clif-ford Marner, (Beryl) and Mrs. Beulah Barrus and families. Mr. and Mrs. Blake Everett have enjoyed a visit from their sen. President Lois Bartholomew Bartholo-mew presided at this social and her counselor Afton Barker gave the address of welcome. Tributes to the outgoing officers offi-cers were given by their daughters. daugh-ters. Mrs. Colleen H. Bushnell paid tribute to her mother, Mrs. Agnes Harrison, the outgoing out-going secretary of the organization; organ-ization; Mrs. Joyce Whiting paid tribute to her step-mother Mrs. Marva Whiting; Mrs. Margene H. Gottfredson paid honor to her mother, Mrs. Esther Es-ther Hurst and Mrs. Wanda M. Fullmer to her mother Mrs. Barbara Murray. A vocal trio was sung by Mrs. Grace Norwood, Nor-wood, Mrs. Bonnie Gividen and Mrs. Mabel Paulson who were accompanied by Mrs. Norma Cox. Gwen Allan played a piano pi-ano solo. The outgoing officers were presented with a gift of appreciation for their service in the organization. A hot turkey diner was served ser-ved following the program at long tables beautiful with Christmas motifs. Each guest received a gift. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Green of South Gate, Calif., are spending the holidays at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Young. Donald, who has been stationed with the army in Korea is home on a months furlough, after which he will be sent to Fort Lewis, Washington where he has five months more service. The home of Mr. and Mrs. Ferrus Larson was the meeting meet-ing place of the Young Mar-ired Mar-ired Group for their lesson last week. Mr. and Mrs. Everett Miller have received word from their daughter Sadie and her husband hus-band Norman Fullmer of the birth of a daughter, Dec. 10 at the Army Base Hospital at Lake Mead, Nevada. This is their first grandchild. The new president of the Mapleton Second ward YM-MIA YM-MIA is Farrel Oglivie. He replaces re-places Harold Whiting who has gone into the Kolob Stake Sunday Sun-day School presidency. Mapleton citizens are again reminded of a public hearing on the proposed 1960 budget which will be held Dec. 28 in Memorial Hall at 7:30. Also that applications for the office of treasurer will be accepted until December 31 of this year. Wayne Allan, son of Mr. and Mrs .Leonard Allan, is home after completing his training at Fort Baker, California. He Sunday guests at the home of their daughter and son-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Roger Evans were her parents, Mr. and Mrs.-Scott Mrs.-Scott Reynolds of Salt Lake City. They were here especially espec-ially to help with the baptism and confirmation of their grand son Randal Earl Evans. Mayor and Mrs. Welby S. Warren are enjoying a visit from their son Darrell and his wife from Logan where Darrell Dar-rell is attending the USTJ. They will also visit her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Thompson in Ephraim during the holidays. The Mapleton Sewing club met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Annie Gividen for an afternoon af-ternoon of quilting followed by luncheon. Gifts were exchanged exchan-ged by the twelve guests present. Mrs. Eva Bird was hostess to the members of the Mapleton Maple-ton DUP at her home last Thursday afternoon where the lesson was given by Alice Johnson on "Happenings in the Valley." A Christmas Medley was played by Mrs. Norma Cox; a story given by Mrs. Olive Whiting; a vocal solo by Mrs. Lora Bird anda poem read by Mrs. Nellie Wiscombe. Group singing was enjoyed. A delicious lunch was served to twenty two members and one guest Mrs. Neta Swenson of Spanish oFrii, by Marva Whiting, Whit-ing, Gladys Parry, Gen Allan and Belva Wentz assisted by the host Mrs. Eva Bird. Gifts were exchanged. A delicious hot turkey supper sup-per was served to the members mem-bers of the Senior Aaronic group and their partners at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Mer-rill Halverson Friday evening. Aaron Mendenhall was a special spe-cial guest. The Primary officers of the Mapleton ward honored their husbands at a special Christmas Christ-mas party at the home of Mrs. Hugh Hjorth last Friday night. Supper was served to forty guests at long tables gay with Christmas motifs. Supper was followed by an interesting program pro-gram with the following parti- |
