Mrs. Kapple is the former Cora Gustavson. Dean Meiling, ..son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Frederickson has been home on a y leave from his navy base at Long Beach, Calif. He is serv-- ing aboard the USS Yorktown and expects to leave next month with his shipmates on an overseas tour stopping at ports in Hawaii, the Philippines, Guam and Ja-pan. His ship is a 900-fo- ot support carrier dealing in anti-submarine warfare. Larry Taylor, grandson of Mr .and Mrs. Lawrence Clark spent a few days with them here this week enroute to Winnemucca, Nev., to spend Christmas with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lamond Higbee. Larry has just completed his army training at Fort Bliss, Texas. Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Lyall en-joyed a visit early this week from Mr. Lyall's nephew, John Wetterich and his wife from Cedaridge, Colo. Lyall and Mrs. Maurice Bird entertained at the home of the latter Friday evening- at a delightful Christ-mas party following a theme, "Christmas by Candle Light." A nicely arranged Christmas luncheon was served early and each guest was presented with a lovely corsage. Later Mrs. Rowene DiFiore of Payson pre-sented a program of music leading the group in Christmas carols and a number of vocal and piano selections. Concluding the party, the group gathered around the Christmas tree and exchanged Christmas presents. Mrs. Norman Gustavson who will bo at home in Springville. She is the former Miss Darlene Atwood of Provo. Norman Gustavson and Bride Will Make Their Home in Springville Announcement is being made this week of the marriage of Miss Darlene Atwood, daugh-ter of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Duke of Provo, to Norman Gustavson, son of Mr. and Mrs. O. R. Gustavson of Springville. The newlyweds were compli-mented with a party Wednes-day evening of last week at the Springville Third-Nint- h ward church, at which a large group of relatives and friends attended. They are now at home in Springville. Darlene is a graduate of the Provo high school, where she was active in Pep Club and editor of the 1959 yearbook. She has just returned from Kansas City, where she grad- -' uated from the airline division of the Central Technical Insti-tute. Norman is a graduate of the Springville high school and LDS Seminary. He was a mem-ber of the Athletic club at the SHS and attended the Brigham Young University a year. He is presently employed in Provo. Christmas Calls Friends Together Taking advantage of the holiday season to get together, a number of former residents of Colorado-Ne- w Mexico who were school friends years ago, met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Boyer for an an-nual turkey dinner Friday of last week. The group calls themselves the CNM club. Dinner was served at one long table beautifully decorat-ed for the occasion in Christ-mas colors and motifs. Covers were laid for the following: . The entertainment was held at the home of Mrs. Marie Whiting with Mrs. Aud-rey Ford, Mrs. Fisher's book, which started out as a family his-tory and became a novel, is soon to be filmed and the author showed the club group now the story had been cut and explained other details carried out preliminary to mak-ing a film. The sketches in the book were by Dr. Richard Gunn of the BYTJ. Before the program, lunch-eon was served by candle light from a table made pretty with Christmas candles and other holiday motifs, highlighted by an arrangement of several of Mrs. Whiting's famous "First Ladies." Mrs. Francis Clark and Mrs. Mary Palfreyman reported on the Legislative Council meet-ing at Provo. In lieu of an exchange of Christmas gifts, the club mem-bers each contributed to State Hospital patients. Dinner, Gift Exchange Enjoyed at Club Party An exchange of Christmas gifts, games and a delicious Christmas dinner were high-lights of a party given by members of the Amegas Mia club for their partners Mon-day evening. The party was at the new home of Mr. and Mrs. Orval Harmer on East Center Street, where the entertaining rooms were gaily decorated with Christmas candles, a beautiful tree and other festive creations. Places at the dinner served at one long table were arrang- - ed for 22 members and guests, including: Mr .and Mrs. Mabin Wilding, Mr. and Mrs. May-nar- d White, Mr. and Mrs. Clar-ence Ferre, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Moore and Mr. and Mrs. Sher-man Doyle all of Orem; Mr. and Mrs. Phil Thornton and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Long of Provo; Mr. and Mrs. Robert White, Mr. and Mrs. Elmo Court, Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Weight and the host and hos-tess. Wins Type Award In a recent assembly held at LDS Business College, Salt Lake, Miss Mary Harmer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gol-den Carter, 266 No. 2nd E., re-ceived an award for being one of those to make the best pro-gress in typing during this quarter. Miss Harmer is a graduate of Springville High School and is home this week for the holi-days Crib Corner Boy to Edward and Vesta Frost Boyer Dec. 19, at the Utah Valley Hospital. The new arrival is the twelfth child, all living for the Boyers and will be named Creed Herbert. Girl, to George and Velma Hatch Eldredge Monday, De-cember 21, at the Utah Valley Hospital. Boy, to Roland and Meneta Dutson Pabst, Friday Decem-ber 18, at the Utah Valley Hospital. " Girl, to Mack and Sharon Tew Bills, December 10, at the Payson Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Loris Park have their son Pvt. Carl Park home for the holidays. He will return to Fort Riley, Kansas, where he expects to be sta-tioned for the remainder of his service. Christmas Story Features Club Meet Mrs. Floss Phillips gave the humorous Christmas story, "Grandma's Last Christmas," to feature the program at the Alpha Beta club's annual par-ty Friday of last week at the home of. Mrs. Myron Childs. Mrs. G. Ray Hales, president of the club, announced the program. Ann Childs and a group of girls sang choral numbers and John Childs, dressed as Santa Claus distributed the club's ex-change gifts from a gaily de-corated Christmas tree. The members brought jams and jellies to donate to Utah county institutions and also each member donated to a fund to purchase an organ for the State Mental Hospital. A nicely arranged Christmas luncheon was served by the hostess, assisted by Mrs. H. M. Family Celebrates At Turkey Dinner The Dennis Palfreyman fam-ily gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. L. V. Hancock for their annual Christmas party. A delicious turkey din-ner was served at one long table centered with a Christ-mas candle centerpiece and tiny silver baskets were at each place setting. A pretty Christmas tree and a minia-ture Christmas City decorated the entertaining rooms.
