Pershing for his efficient services in charge of the American Kxpeditionary Force casualty lists. La Verno M. Hayes, son of Judge Henry K. Hayes of Richfield, has arrived ar-rived home after nearly two years of work with the American army in France and Germany. Hayes went over as an ' army field clerk, sailing September 21, 1917. In all ho spent twenty-two months abroad. When he returned to the United States he brought with him the casualty records of the American Expeditionary force and turned them over to the war department at Washington. After his first nine months in France, spent at general headquarters in the organization or-ganization of the central records office, Hayes took charge of the casualties section. sec-tion. He" made two trips into Germany In connection with his work. He wlil visit his parents for a time at Richfield and will then go east to complete his college col-lege work. |
