Show WATER SUPPLY j OFFERED CITY i jProvo Company Proposes to j Give Reservoir Site Near Heber City. Another mans for increasing the city's water supply during the dry summer season sea-son has been presented to the city authorities au-thorities by the Provo Reservoir company which, has offered the city the right to build a reservoir at the Bates ranch , twelve miles from H fiber City, and to convey the water impounded there by wav of the company's canal system to the Point of the Mountain. From there It would be necessary to carry the water by a canal to constructed by the city to the city conduit from Big Cottonwood canyon. can-yon. In explaining the offer yesterday. Francis Fran-cis V. Klikham. a direr-tor of the company com-pany and a member of Its executive committee, com-mittee, said: "We have made the proposal to the city engineer, offering the reservoir site to the city without charge and asking a nominal sum, not yet named, for the use of the company's canal system. The estimated cost to the city of the reservoir reser-voir and the canals necessary would be about $500,000. "The capacity of the proposed reservoir would be about 10,000 acre feet of water, which would give the city a flow of fifty second feet for 100 days. Our surveys show that a fifteen-mile canal would .carry the water from the end of our system at the Point of the Mountain to connect either with the Big Cottonwood conduit or Big Cottonwood creek itself. As I understand it, the matter will be presented pre-sented to the city commission. Our offer holds good for the city alone, for the farmers who would be benefited, or for I the city and the farmers jointly." |
