There was no indication, they suld, that they would bo able to strengthen their forces. Senate leaders also indicated that no action would bo originated in that body to repeal the act, and failure of the house today to pass the appropriation measure over the presidential veto will prevent any action by the senate on the repeal rider. Strength mustered by the repeal advocates was eight votes lass than the nccessarv two-thirds of tho mumbers present.
