Show SECTIONAL DECISION. Federal Judge James E. Boyd of Greensboro, N. C, has declared tho amended child labor law unconstitu-! tional. The supreme court of the United Unit-ed States affirmed a former opinion of Judge Boyd by a majority of one vote. The last congress amended the law to j meet the objections that had been raised and the measure was considered I airtight by those who framed it. Pcr-Ihaps Pcr-Ihaps it may turn out that way when tho j court of last resort reviews the latest I opinion of the southern judge, who resides re-sides in that part of the country where child labor is employed to a consider- I able extent. The forward-looking men and women of tho United States and j some of the labor lenders havo been trying to prevent the children of the land from being overburdened and stunted in both physical and mental growth early in life. So far their efforts ef-forts have been in vain. Nevertheless, the Tcform must come. Most people will regard the opinion of Judge Boyd as sectional and unsound and look to tho supreme court to overturn it. |
