Show jfOl HEROES ' GIKpULS Presentations Are Made to Former Service Men by People of Clearfield. Special to The Tribune. CLEARFIELD, Aug. 26 Twenty-three Twenty-three former service men were the honored hon-ored guests of the people of Clearfield this evening at one of the most largely attended entertainments and banquets ever given in this little city. At the opening gathering, which was held in the ward hall, each of the brave young defenders was prtinled with a handsome gold medal, the work of the Sample jewe.T.v store In Salt Lake. Each medal contains the name of the young man to whom presented, together with the service to which he was assigned, and shows that Clearfield ward is the donor. Those to whom the medals were presented pre-sented were Glen E. Wilcox, James Brown, Arlow Brown, Gerald McFerson, Blen Smith, Merl Benson, George A. Freestone, Harvey Freestone. Chris Flit-ton, Flit-ton, Melvtn T. Phillips and Guy Bills, all of whom were overseas; Douglas Hanks, Emery Wilcox, Ralph Page. Kupert Flit-ton, Flit-ton, Dan Flitton, George Hudson. William Wil-liam Steed. Lawrence Sessions, Roland Smith, Clydo Reed, Lester Barber and Thomas L. Bentley, who were in training train-ing camps in the United States. The absentees were Jesse D. Barlow and Ora Darlow, who are in Oregon, and Jabez Martin Draper, who was killed at the battle of Chateau Thierry. The medal designed for Jabez Martin Draper also contained a tiny gold star. It was presented . to his father, George H. Draper. At the ward hall, where the presentations presenta-tions were made, Bishop David Stoker presided, and an interesting musical and literary program was rendered. Later a banquet was served at the Clearfield amusement hall, at which covers were laid for 523. |
