Show p5Slsu Federal Department ,o f Utah Organizes to Assure Enforcement of Act. Active measures for the enforcement of national prohibition were begun yesterday under direction of P. C. Dunbar, collector of internal revenue for the district of Utah, who has turned over his force of deputies for the task of collecting evidence evi-dence for enforcement of the law. National Na-tional prohibition went into effect at 3:40 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, and orders to enforce the law arrived yesterday from the commissioner of internal revenue at : Washington. The enforcement of the prohibition act. which was passed over the veto of President Presi-dent Wilson, will bo under direction of the internal revenue department and taken from the hands of the department of justice, with the exception of interstate inter-state shipment cases. The act also provides pro-vides for the creation of a separate department de-partment of enforcement, with an officer in charge. "When created, this department depart-ment will bo headed by a director at a salary o' $-1000 a year. Duties of the now enforcement office-will office-will he to secure evidence of violations of t he prohibit ion law and prepare the cases for prosecution, the appointment virtually clothing him with the powers of a district attorney. During the time in which the enforcement division is being organized, lr. Dunbar said his entire force would be detailed to the work. Active Ac-tive plans formulated yesterday morning included calling the deputies together and instructing them as to the provisions of the law and detailing them to hunt down violators.
