J. M. Van KVsinga, of Lcyden I university, have been sen t to Paris in order to co-operate with Dr. John Jjoudon and explain the views of their government In this matter. "I hold the opinion that the present ! draft for a league of nations re?Ily deserves de-serves attention as a fair introductory step to a period in the relations between nations opening quite a new channel for the development of the mutual interests of humanity. "However, 1 am one of Those who think the equality of the rights of nations tht? most important moans of increasing tiie power of the smaller powers in a league of nations, and I feel that in this 'direction the plan do-.s not give nrtre j satisfaction. Nevertheless, I am much I inclined to believe that the prevent i scheme of the lea cue of nations will in no way hinder its future improvement and development on a larger scalp. "At the same time, it miht be considered con-sidered the duty of the Netherlands, i backed by their tradition of prospering ! the work of international undcrstM nding and international law, to salute the coming com-ing of a league of nntions generally v. ith great satisfaction and without too much criticism." |
