Show AMERICAN PRISONERS' RECORDS ANNOUNCED WASHINGTON. March 25. Official records of Drisoners of war captured by the central powers from the American forces, the war department announced today, show that there are 156 prisoners whoso status was still doubtful on March 1 i'0. A list of these names has been forwarded for-warded to the central records office, Ameriean expeditionary force, for checking check-ing and inve.stitrat ion. The war department depart-ment records, compiled from reports on prisoners from all sources, show a total loss bv the American army of 4765 military mili-tary prisoners and "Si civilians. Of the mil itarv prisoners. -1376 have been reported re-ported released and that 2'S'S died in German Ger-man prison cj;mps. Onlv one American officer of as high rank as lieutenant-colonel was captured during the war. Four majors, twenty-seven twenty-seven eantains and . 363 lieutenants were taken prisoner. |
