Show nave died "1fsssa' fiahowe en Feast THE KAISER" was burned In effigy in a huge bonfire at Fort i Douglas last night as a part of the. Hallowe'en celebration held at the post for tho benefit of the soldiers. The men of the Seventieth engineers prepared a dummy representing the officers, men' and other residents of the. kaiser, and earlv in the evening, when pot were gathered about the cheery blaze the "kaiser" was duly consigned to the flames. The event was made one not onlv in observation of Hallowe en, but of 'celebration over the capitulation of Turkey. The bonfire prepared for the occasion was a monster one, and lighted up the entire eastern bench. Many people downtown down-town thought it was a serious fire raging at the post for a time, and many inquiries were made as to "what was burning at the post." It was only a Hallowe'en bonfire bon-fire The celebration, conducted under the' auspices of the Y. M. C. A., ,was an open-air affair, in accordance with influenza in-fluenza regulations. ' There were open-air movie pictures, music and other features that proved of Interest to all. The nurses of the hos- pital had a special Hallowe'en dinner ear-I ear-I ly In the evening. |
