Show PANTHERS ARE WITH OCCUPATION ARMY Melvtn Snelgrove, Leroy Self and L.ynn Raybould are among members of Dr. Hugh B. Sprague's ambulance corps, with Uncle Sam's army of occupation, and these athletic stars expect to be in Europe for at least six months, and probably prob-ably a year, according to a letter received here yesterday. Snelgrove was a star athlete at the "West high school, while Self was a star on the diamond as a member of several local amateur baseball clubs. Raybould was manager of the Panther tracksters during the 1916 season. During his high senool career Snelgrove played on the gridiron, starred on the hoop floor, was a star of the first magnitude on the diamond dia-mond and was member of the relay aggregation ag-gregation on the school track squad. He played quarterback for the Panthers during dur-ing the 1?11 season. Self was one of the best amateur baseball base-ball playern ever developed locally. He possessed a wonderful arm. had plenty of pepper, was last on the bags and had a wise head. He could play any position on the. team with equal ability and was a star at all times. Raybould, during his high school career, was inactive In athletics, ath-letics, but was manager of track affairs, and his work aided the Panthers to win the cross-country run in 1916. |
