Show WITNESSES OPPOSE RADIO CONTROL BILL WASHINGTON, Dec. 19. Hearings on the administration bill providing for government gov-ernment ownership of all wireless Ptatlons were'completed today by the house merchant mer-chant marine committee. Decision as to action to be taken on the measure was deferred by the committee until after the congressional Christmas recess. Witnesses today opposed the bill with the exception of Frederick Pheian of Montclair, N. J., a student of electro-physics, electro-physics, who said government ownership would stimulate Invention and would assure as-sure fairer dealing for Inventors. Representatives Repre-sentatives of private companies, manufacturers manu-facturers or wireless equipment and the radio club of America testified against the bill. Paul F. Godley of Montclair, a radio engineer, appearing for the radio club of America, said his organization recommended, recom-mended, if it was decided to pass the bill, that amateur operators be licensed for both Bending and receiving-stations, and that no geographical limitation be placed on the location of Iheir stations, except that none should be within a five-mile five-mile zone of naval stations. |
