Show M MOTHERS PLAN RECORD SERVICE Will Secure in Detail Data Affecting Salt Lake Men and Women. Under the direction of a special com-j com-j mittee of the War Mothers of Utah; with Mrs. Elizabeth IT. Coray, chairman. In charge, an intensive survey of the city of Salt. Lake is being conducted for the purpose of obtaining in detail the record of every man or woman who is now or , who. has been in the service of the country coun-try in either army, navy, air or war work connected with these branches. The survey is being conducted through a house-to-house canvass by numerous subcommittees. The War Mothers' association has undertaken un-dertaken this arduous work as a help to the Stato Council of Defense, which assumed as-sumed tho obligation in an executive capacity ca-pacity at tho request of the federal department de-partment of war. The task is a stupendous stupen-dous one, and in order to reduce it to tiie simplest form Chairman Coray has adopted adopt-ed the stake, ward and block plan of operation. This means that In each stake a chairman chair-man vested with full authority to select subcommittees and such other aides as are needed lias ben chosen and installed. In most stakes subordinate working Lod- ; ies have been namef to oversee the C'tnvassing in each ward nf the stake, and j these, in turn, have picked wnrkei-s to i solicit information in each block of the I various v. ai ds. ! The soliciting commit tees nre required I only to obtain names, amiresses and such necessary data as will bo of help to the stato in addressing questionnaires to the homes which have contributed men and women to the service. This information will be inscribed on cards provided for the specific, purpose by the Stato Council of Defense. Tho cards will be delivered, when completed, to tho stato department and when the questionnaires are returned these will be tiled in the Utah state archives for future reference. Collection of information relating to addresses ad-dresses will lie pushed with all possible baste, and should be completed by the end of the first week in 1 Nccmbrr. Assembling As-sembling of cfirds and the mailing of questionnaires ques-tionnaires by tho state department will follow immediately, but it is not expected that the entiro' work will bo completed for several months. j The War Mothers' association recently undertook to furnish all mothers and I wives in Salt Lake, who have lost son I or husband by death in the war, with i gold service stars.
