Show TED Jdffl BEGINS TRAINING FOR G1D Utah Star Expected to Show Class in Los Angeles An-geles Event. Ted Johnson, the peer of western dis- ( tanco runners, is now in training for tho Los Angelcs-Ycnlce distance classic, which will be staged on the coast on New Year's day. The vctoran of a score of title grinds ts already in tip-top shape and is. expected to show a world of class when he mixes with the stars of the west in what gives promise of being one of the greatest of distance events. The course covers a distance of about sixteen six-teen miles from the city to the sea. and is said to be the most beautiful running course in the entire country. Johnson lias four times won the Rocky Mountain marathon events at Denver, and he has also starred in many events of various distances throughout the country. coun-try. He recently finished second iu a twenty-six-inlle event at Chicago. He is being backed hy scores of Los Angeles people to show lots of class and is expected ex-pected to land among the first four that cross the tape.
