Show RUSS SUGAR SEIZED BY THE GOVERNMENT 10,000 Tons to Be Placed on the Market by Sugar Administrator Eolph. NKW YORK, Nov. 21. The snaT shortage in New York nnd Now England was relieved somewhat today 1 y the seizure by George Tiolph, J'ederal sugar administrator, of J 0,000 tons bought for the JJussian government and bv Mr. Rolph's declaration that twenty-five twenty-five carloads of beet sugar are on the way from tho west to Boston and New England points. The sugar seized today, was attached yesterday by the Marine Transportation Service corporation in connection with a suit against former Emperor Nicholas of Russia, seeking to obtain $2,800,000 for alleged breach of contract. The sugar is to be placed on the market immediately. The proceeds from the sale wijl be amenable to the writ of attachment. |
