Mourning- the loss of their four-footed friends, members of No. 2 company last night held an impromptu grief meeting, at which' they recalled many a hard run on which the faithful animals had drawn them. Fire Chief Bywaler declared the passing pass-ing of the horses obliterates the last link' between the old and the new fire service in Salt Lake. T would as soon say good -by to five warm friends," he said, "as to part with those horses. They will have to be sold, but I will sell them only to someone I know will treat them well. It costs only ?8 a month for the 'Keep' of a fire, truck, whereas a team of fire homes coals the city $1:7 a month, so they had to go." |
