TO SEE IF PEOPLE WANT NEW COUNTY Special to The Tribune. BOISE, Idaho, March 12. If the sentiment senti-ment in the proposed new county of Port-neuf, Port-neuf, to be created out of Bannock county, coun-ty, is favorable to that county. Governor Alexander will sign the PoAneuf division bill. If it is against the creation of the new county he will veto it. For the purpose pur-pose of ascertaining what t he people, in the territory to form the county think of it, the governor has commissioned Speaker B. Harvey Allred to visit them tbe latter part of the present week. He will hold meetings as follows: At Arimo, Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock ; Downey, Saturday Satur-day at 2 o'clock ; Swan Lake. Sunday noon and Oxford in the afternoon. All those attending the meetings will be permitted per-mitted to cast preferential ballots for or, against division and the governor will be guided by the result. The bill passed by the legislature providing pro-viding for a sweeping investiga tion of the, state land department and appropriating appro-priating $20,000 therefor was signed by the governor. The investigation is to cover the time the state was admitted into the union down to the present.
