Show PASTORS COMMEND WORK OF COLLEGE Presbyterian Churches Will Promote Campaign to Raise Fund of $100,-000 $100,-000 for Westminster. Commendation of the work of "Westminster "West-minster college and exhortations to give lor its support were offered by ministers minis-ters of the Protestant churches of Salt Lake yesterday. In most of the churches only brief reference was made to the forthcoming campaign for funds to be made by the college. In the First Presbyterian church, however, the Rev. George Ewing Davies spoke on "The Christian College," dwelling on the history his-tory of the school and on the necessity for colleges where religion is instilled into the students. The preparations for the campaign for a $100,000 fund for the support and extension of the college are n earing completion, according to the president, Dr. H. W. Reherd. He says that it is planned to have a force of canvassers of between 300 and 350 to cover Salt Lake, Ogden and the other larger towns of the state. The active canvass will commence March 10 and continue for probably ten days. The local campaign will be launched at a dinner to be held at the Hotel Utah on the evening of ilarch 10, and daily luncheons will be held at which the workers will report progress and ex-1 change experiences. |
