WHEREABOUTS OF VILLA A MYSTERY Story That Bandit Chief Has Gone to Japan Is Doubted; Carranza Troops Active. EL PASO, Feb. IS. The report is current cur-rent here tonight that the cattlemen in the Hachita district of New Mexico inr tend to form a punitive expedition of their own to cross Into Mexico and. give chase to the bandits who murdered the three "Mormon" cowboys on the Corner ranch last Monday. It is known that cattlemen have bought supplies of arms and ammunition here and shipped them to Kachita, and that much bitter talk has been heard from (ihem. Iyem Spill shury, the "Mormon" scout lately with General Pershing in Mexico, was said to be organizing a posse of this kind after the discovery of the dead bodies of his companions near Corner ranch, but, according; to report, gave up the idea because he could not muster more than fifty men, and there are about 500 of Villa's followers in the neighboring neighbor-ing part of Mexico. Tonight's rumor had it that cattlemen from all parts of the southwest were joining the expedition, which they expected ex-pected to be increased to about 500 men. VILLA MISSING; MAY HAVE TAKEN SHIP FOR JAPAN EL PASO, Feb. IS.
