Show SORTEZ JAILED FOR BREAKING WINDOWS Mexican Who Tried to Break Up Party in Kooming House Says He Was "Broke" and Neglected. Angry because he was not invited to a party, because he was "broke," S. Sor-tez, Sor-tez, a Mexican, resorted to throwing stones through the windows of a local rooming house where the party was held last week. He admitted taking his wrath out on the windows, before Judge E. A. Rogers yesterday, and was given a jail sentence of lifteen days.' Sortez said all of his friends were Invited, In-vited, but he was overlooked because his finances were low at the time. He later decided to attend anyway, which resulted result-ed in his being removed bodily from the scene of merriment. Then he resorted to trying to break up the party. E. B. McGrew, manager of the Sugar pharmacy, was found guilty of the sale and consumption of liquors in his store. A fine of $50 was Imposed by Judge Rogers. Rog-ers. Attorneys for the defense contended that he was not guilty, inasmuch as the sale was made by a delivery boy, and not while the proprietor was present. McGrew, on the stand, said that he gave tho boy orders against the sale of liquors. However, the lad frankly test'. Med Miat no orders whatsoever had been given him. "Billv" Lay ton. a woman, was found guilty of petit larcency. Sentence will be imposed today. |
