Show C01I! TICKET IS IMPORTANT FACTOR Candidates on Republican State Slate Display Keen Interest. Candidates on the Republican Rtate ticket are much interested in the county ticket the Republicans are to put up in Salt Lake county, looking upon this county coun-ty as the big battleground of the coming campaign. Several of the candidates, it is known, are not overmuch Impressed with the strength of the stattj ticket upon which they are running, and since it is too late to remedy that much they want to make up for its alleged shortcomings by nominating nomi-nating a stem-winding ticket in this county. What they have In mind will overthrow over-throw the aspirations of some of the county candidates; that is, it will if the state ticket candidates have anything to say about the personnel of the county ticket. They certainly aim to have something some-thing to say and they plan to cram the county and legislative tickets with representatives rep-resentatives of those factions and elements ele-ments of the party not fully represented on the state ticket. It is certain that the county convention here next month will be watched with a great deal of interest from the Republican state headquarters on the mezzanine floor of the Hotel Vtah. State Chairman Glen Miller, assisted by Charles M. Morris, the new secretary of the state com mil tee, are organizing the work at the new headquarters. Already Al-ready they have Installed a battery of stenographers, and workmen were busy yesterday installing extra telephones and other equipment. A. N. Rod way, advance representative for Charles E. Hughes, the Republican presidential candidate, who will visit Utah August 24, left yesterday noon for Denver, Den-ver, well pleased with the arrangements that have been made for Governor Hughes's reception here. |
