Show CORPORATION TAXES BEING PAID IN CASH Warning Recently Sent Out by Secretary Secre-tary of State Is Having Good Results Re-sults Throughout State; A word of warning often has a beneficial bene-ficial effect. Such, at least in effect, is tho opinion of David Mattson. secretary of state, in whose hands is placed the duty of collecting the taxes of corporations-Some time ago Secretary of State Matt-son Matt-son sent out tiie annual warning to corporations cor-porations that they must pay their an- j nual state license tax by November 15 or be assessed a penalty. It was also specifically stated In a separate bul- i letin that remittances must be made ' by cash, postoffice or express money or- ; der, casliier's or certified check. Personal ; or firm checks, it was stated, would not : be accepted. j Yesterday the flow of receipts began to come in from the firms who honestly have i determined to continue business in the state and, as the secretary of state whim- j sically remarked, "the earnest boys are I sending in their taxes in cash." if these taxes are not paid before De- , cember 15 they are subject to a penalty of S10. Unless both tax and penalty are paid on or before March 15, the corporation cor-poration will be declared delinquent. Unless payment of the tax, the penalty pen-alty and the advertising costs is made on or before the first Monday of April following, the corporation will forfeit its right to transact business within the state and' its charter will be revoked by proclamation of the governor. |
