Show II GRADE ROCK 1 .FROMJILVER BELL Drift Into Virgin Ground Discloses Vein Carrying 82.10 Ounces Silver. Clinton P. Smith, superintendent of the Silver Bell & Alpha Consolidated Mines company, whose property is located locat-ed In the Humboldt ranye in Nevada, yes- . terday informed the officials of the com- ; pany that a vein of ore has just been , discovered in an old drift leadline: into virgin ground. The vein is four feet wide i and the samples assayed S2.10 ounces ! silver: I It is evident that such veins of ore could not be worked to advantage in the days when this mine was first producing, as all of the ore mined was hauled by team 300 miles to Sacramento. Cal., and . millions in the white metal were taken j out and shipped to Swansea, Wales. Several important discoveries have been ' made in tiie old mine recently and in several places miners are working on ore some of which assays thousands of ounces in stiver, a sample recently sent in from the Intermediate level, where miners are following a three-foot vein Into virgin ground, carried 3220.10 ounces sliver, and 150 sacks ol high grade has been saved in driving forty feet, while all of the vein averages 65.10 ounces silver. Plans have been under way for some time for the erection of a mill on the property to treat the large tonnage of ore in the dumps and fills, and It Is expected expect-ed that by the first of the year the mill will be in running order. |
