George Henry Knowlden, SO years of ag-e, a resident of Salt Lake for more . than fifty years and one of the pioneer grain dealers and real estate men of Salt. Lake, died yesterday nioruing at his residence, 620 Garfield avenue. Funeral Fu-neral services will be held Sunday afternoon after-noon at '! o'clock in the Second ward chapel. Interment will be in- the City cemetery. Mr. rtnowlden was born in Deotford. Kent, England, October 14, 1830, the son of Thomas fi. and Rachel Ashley Knowlden. Uoming to the United States, he crossed the plains by ox team, reaching Salt Lake April 28, 1S55, with Thurston '9 independent compan-. He was the first citizen of Utah to establish estab-lish a gTain business, and for the past thirty years had been actively interested interest-ed iii real estate and mining. There were three families. Mr. Knowl-'den Knowl-'den is survived by his widowf Sarah 0., and the following children : R. E., Provo; George H., Los Angeles; W, Frank, American Falls, Idaho; 0. A. Ogden; Fred V., R. W.. V. J.T A. E., L. W. and L. R., all of Salt Lake; Mrs. Charles Shupp, Mrs. Lewis Trenette, Mrs. IT. A. Anderson, Mrs. J. K. Busbv, Mrs. G. E. Browne, all of Salt Lake; Mrs. Daisy Uhl, Pocatello, Idaho; Irs. Lidy Gowey, Los Angeles; also by a sister, sis-ter, Mrs. Mary Ann Whayman, Sydney, Australia. He was the father "of twenty-seven children, of whom the sixteen .above named survive. Sixty-three 'grandchildren and seventeen greatgrandchildren great-grandchildren are living. |
