Show CARDIFF SHIPPING HEAVY TONNAGE Encounters Rich Ore Shoot in Driving Main Raise to Upper Tunnel. Between 100 and 125 tons of ore are being shipped daily from the Cardiff mine, located in the Big Cottonwood district, said President Ezra Thompson yesterday, in discussing the development develop-ment work that is being carried on. A strike of considerable importance to the company was made recently in driving the raise from the main tunnel level to connect with the upper tunnel. A high-grade high-grade ore body was encountered and passed through for tweuty-seven feet. It averages between $70 and $80 per ton. The roadways are reported in good condition following the recent rain, and the Cardiff company has at present seventy teams employed in hauling the ore to the smelter. Though all of the ore is not of the same grade, it, is mixed so that the product sent out from the mine will average $35 to the ton. It carries about 35 per cent lead and from 14 to 16 ounces in silver to the ton. Practically all of the electrical connections con-nections have been made at the property prop-erty and the company is now awaiting the arrival of the transformer that was shipped from Cincinnati, Ohio, yesterday. yester-day. As soon as it arrives and is installed in-stalled the company expects to put the machinery in operation. No attempt is being made to develop the ore showing beyond its present state. In order to secure better ventilation venti-lation sb early as possible, the management manage-ment is devoting every effort to pushing push-ing np the main raise. This will connect con-nect with the upper level. No attempt at-tempt was made to develop the rich shoot that was encountered in the raise. Kelative to the rumors circulated recently re-cently in mining circles to the effect that the Cardiff company would declare a dividend in the near future, President Thompson said that that question had not been considered by the directors as yet. |
