Show CHICAGO'S DEATH RATE DECREASES CHICAGO, Doc. 2d. Tho passing year was Chicago's healthiest, with a death rate of 14.3 7 to each 1000 population, pop-ulation, according to the weekly bulletin 1 of the health department today. The rate was 6.2 per cent less than m 191 H, and .b" per cent less than the average for the previous decade. The fight waged against infectious diseases this year has been a winuing ono, the bulletin reporting a marked reduction re-duction in tho number of deaths from such causes. Tho tvplioid fever rate was 7.50 for cvew 0(1,000 population, the lowest in the 'history or the city. Last year's rate, next to New York's, was the best in tho United States, and tho rate of 1911 is a reduction of 2S per cent. |
