Show FAMOUS SOLDIER IS FINALLY CONQUERED General Sir Thomas Kelly Kenny Dies in County Claxe Ireland, at Age of 75 LONDON Dee 26, 9 30 a m Gen eral Sir Thomas Kelly Kenny formerly adjutant general of the British forces s dead llis home was at Doolough Xodge n County Clare where he had lived s nee h s retirement in 1907 General Kelly Kenny was a distm guished soldier and had seen active serv ice m many fore gn fields As far back as 1860 he was mentioned in d s patches for valorous action at the tak ing of the Tang Kn and Taku forts and for this was presented with the service medal Aga n in Abyssinia m 1867 68 he was mentioned m dispatches and received another medal for h s services while m command of a divis on of the transport train. Following a long tour of home duties he again saw acuve service in South Africa where he was lieutenant general of the staff and in command of the bixth divis on He was twice mentioned m dispatches for his service in this field In 190o General Kelly Kenny by ap-po ap-po ntment accompanied Prince Arthur of Connaught on a special mission to the emperor of Japan He visited the United States m 1909 after he had retired from active service General Kelly Kenny was nearly o years old having been born in County Clare Ire land February '7 1840 |
