As creator dopth is gained in Ihe winze oelow the 700-foot level, the interest in-terest of the public in the operations at the property of the Reorganized Ke-wauas Ke-wauas Mining' company increases. This is due to the fact that the objective point of the winze is the famous contact con-tact of latite and shale, the discovery of great bodies of ore along which in the Jumbo Extension is. responsible for the rejuvenation of Goldfield and the present day activity, says the Goldfield Daily Tribune. Bounded on the west by the Laguna mine of the Goldfield Consolidated Mines .company and' adjoined on tho south by the tfuiubo Extension mine, the Kewanas territory has long been regarded re-garded as possessing a great future, and since the resumption of work by the company tho operations, have been watched with keen interest. As a preliminary to the sinking of the winze, now in progress, the east crosscut on the 700-foot level of the Laguna mine of the Goldfield Consolidated Consol-idated was extended into the Kewanas territory. The face of the crosscut is 700 feet irom the Laguna shaft or 130 feet cast of the eastern boundary line of the Last Chance claim or! the" Gold-field Gold-field Consolidated. Near the face, the winze was started several weeks ago and it has now gained a depth of seventy-five feet. It is probable that it will reach the contact, which is estimated to lie at a depth of 150 feet below the level of the crosscut cross-cut or 850 feet from the surface, the latter part of January. |
