Show WOMAN LURED FROM HOME AND MURDERED Mia. Maud B. Kennedy Meets Violent Death After Being Robbed of Valuable Jewelry. v By International News Service. LOS ANGELES, Sept. 1. Lured to a vacant lot at Jefferson and Seventh avenues, ave-nues, Mrs. Maud R Kennedv, widow of Judge P. A, Si. Kennedy of Indianapolis, was murdered last night, after having been robbed of jewelry valued at 1800. Near the spot where the body was found today the police discovered a bottle, thought to have contained chloroform. The woman's glove, a broken string of coral beads and one shoe were also found by the police. Philip A. B. Kennedy, a tailor, and son of Mrs. Kennedy, said his mother left their home at 1057 ' East Twenty-first street last night to meet a man on a business busi-ness deal. She carried $1800 worth of diamonds in a bag around her neck and wore seven, diamond rings on her fingers. All this jewelry was missing when the body was found today. Sirs. Kennedy had been a widow for '. two years. The family came here from the east about ten years ago. j |
