Show PEW CHARGES iOE BY OFFICII!. (MS Votes Cast at Recent City Election Checked by Commission. An official canvass of the returns of the city election held last Tuesday was made by the city commission, sitting as a board of -canvassers, yesterday. Acting Act-ing upon the report of the canvass board, the commission passed a resolution resolu-tion declaring W. Mont Ferry to be duly elected mayor, Herman H. Green and Karl A. Scheid elected commissioners and E. A. Bock elected auditor. Certificates of election will be issued to these men by the city recorder. Karl A. Scheid, as city recorder, will have to issue his own certificate, although it probably will be signed by the mayor. The results of the canvass showed few changes from the published returns. Ferry's vote was the same as published; Morris lost five votes, Giauque lost one vote, Green lost four, Scheid lost four, Russell lost eleven, Basso tt gained one and Bock lost five. Bassett, 4330; Bock, 1P.817. Scheid "s lead over Giauque is StS and over Russell 151. IT. K. Russell and a party of his friends were present at the canvassing procedure. At the conclusion of the canvass can-vass Mr. Russell congratulated Mr. Scheid on his election and announced that he had no intention whatsoever of contesting contest-ing it. The canvass was delayed somewhat by a n error on t he part of the jud es in district 20. They had sealed the tally sheet in the envelope containing the ballots. bal-lots. It was necessary to go before the district court a nd ask for an order to open the ballot envelope. This was obtained ob-tained from .Indse George G. Armstrong during the afternoon and t he envelope was opened last night by Mayor Park. |
