Show Catholic Church Group Publication Tells Of Bingham The Missionary Catechist, a monthly magazine published with ecclesiastical approbation by the Society of Missionary Catechists, Victory-Noll, Huntington, Indiana, Indi-ana, contained in the November issue , two articles concerning Bingham Canyon: "Mission Different" Dif-ferent" and "Galena Days", Written by Catechist Elizabeth Clifford, "Mission Different" deals with distinctive features of Bingham Canyon, the physical aspect, mjneral wealth, cosmopolitan cosmo-politan population. The closing paragraph reads: "It is in Bingham that the Missionary Catechists opened a convent this fall. We are not altogether al-together strangers to the people, peo-ple, for during the past year the Salt Lake Catechists visited and tantrht thprf pverv Thursrinv. taught there every Thursday. And last summer two Catechists lived in Bingham and conducted a religious vacation school Both Catholics and non-Catholics have been looking forward to' having the Catechists live among them. They realize what religious instruction in-struction means to their young people, and they have cooperated cooperat-ed with us in every possible way. Gladly the school board gave us permission to teach in their schools. We appreciate this splendid splen-did cooperation since the success of our labors depends upon it to a great extent." In the article, "Galena Days", Catechist M. Rosario Lara tells of Bingham Canyon's two-day celebration, "days in which Bingham Bing-ham of yesterday meets Bingham of todav". Decorations on Main street, costumes of flashing and clashing colors, the beard growing, grow-ing, choosing of Miss Galena, holiday events and enthusiasm of children for the celebration were interestingly described by Catechist Lara. |
