Show ROCHESTER MINES TO DRIVE-TU1EL Will Explore Ground Beneath Be-neath Present Ore Bodies at 1000 Feet Depth. To c-jl the properties of the noe'nestf.r Minos company at a depth of 1 00 feet . for the purpose of determining -whether ; the ores go lo the deep, a tunnel site ha been secured on the original Rochester Roch-ester ground from 3'itis & Mcintosh. According Ac-cording to A. A. Codd, the Uig Four lease is sending out approximately one carload of ore per day, and he also reports re-ports a new strike at the bottom of the shaft and on the Codd site line which will afford 200 feet of stuping ground. Winzes will bo sunk to demonstrate to what depth the ore goes and active storing stor-ing will bo started. The greatest depth that has been attained on the Codd lease is 400 feet. Tin? management of the Rochester Mines -company plans lo drive the tunnel at a point that will bring it under the ore bod iea known to exist in the uppei workings, liaises will then be driven to connect with these workings and drifts j will aho be started for the purpose oi thoroughly exploring the new territory. The tunnel will aiso afford the management manage-ment a cheaper means ot" handling the ore which will be stoped and trammed from the tunnel. Mr. Codd has made the necessary ar rangements to complete the railrcaa track to the slu-; of the new mill, the construction of which is hing rushed ahead as rapidly as possible. The plant is under roof and equipment is beginning to arrive. Work on the transmission line is also being pushed .ahead rapidly, in order to have the power in -when the mill is completed. At a meeting of the board of directors direct-ors recently 1 J. O'Brien of Pan Fran i Cisco and A. Friedman were elected to fill the vacancies of Joseph F. Nenzei and his son, both oT whom resigned re-centlv. re-centlv. It will be recalled that a block of Mr. Xenzel's stock was sold recently at a eherifl't- sale to satisfy a judgment. |
