Show PROTESTING FRANCHISE. Morgan and Lyman at Farmlnglon In Interest In-terest of Automobile Highway. Special to Thc Tribune. FARMIN'GTO.V, April 21. E. R. Morgan Mor-gan and Francis M. Lyman, Jr., appeared here today to protest against the proposed pro-posed franchise to tho "Utah Light Railway company, entitling it to build Its Salt Lukc-Ogden interurban line along the center of the Farmington main street. They came as representing the automobile automo-bile highway movement. John A. Bourne. Edward A. Cottrell and E. B. Clark, representing tho council, coun-cil, appear to remain of the opinion that the line should have the center of Hie street In the Interest of safety for vehicles and t pedestrians, as In other cities. This ' committee has gone over the ground and has considered the mat-tor mat-tor from the viewpoint of Farmington moro than for the convenience of the automobile highway. However, a substitute ordinance has been prepared and submitted to the city attorney. This contemplates allowing thc railroad company to construct along the center of First East street, one block east of Main street, within the more thickly populated part of Farmington, and to turn Into highway number 1, the slate road, at either end of the city. Tho railway company is being notified of this and other changes contemplated In the franchise, and a conference on this matter mat-ter will ho held between representatives of thc city and thc company. |
