Show SIIAQUI Kl ' mm in Ore Body Enlarging and Growing Richer as Depth Is Attained. Manager L. A. Martin has received the results of four assays made from ore ta- J ken from the vicinity of the face of the tunnel, fortv-iivo feet beyond tho. cave rc-centlv rc-centlv found in the Santacjuln Kin? and at a vertical depth of about 255 feet. T.icy make the. following excellent showings: Silver. Lead. Gold. ounces. PC. No. 1 Trace 5.8 40.5 No. 2 Trace 20. l! 70.0 No. .1 Trace 4.7 55. No. 4 Trace 16. S 65. o A fifth assav was made from what at first sight appcuns to be a lime accretion, and which the miners In that belief wore throwing over the waste dump. Closer Investigation, In-vestigation, however, discloses the fact that when struck it lias a distinct metallic metal-lic ring. Mr. Martin In handling some of it, noticed this and 4iad an assay of It mado which showed il to carry 157.50 per cent zinc. Mr. Martin is naturally greatly pleased with these rcsulta and especially with tho improvement in values as depth la pained. Ho is now pushing tho work of blocking out a bodv of ore conservatively estimated at S000 tons, which will net from $U0 to $35 a ton. The tunnel was started on this properly on a small lead, and after being driven seventy feet an ore bearing fissure was encountered. A winze was sunk on this fissure to a depth of thirty fee'., and tin fissure which sliows four feet of ore in the tunnel widened out to eight or nine feet. The tunnel was continued along' tho fissure to the east and has been driven In oro all the way for a distance of about 200 feet. Tn places this ore body has widened out to fifteen feet. At a point about 140 feel from where the fissure was tar.pcd a cave was encountered, and below thiH cave a second caye was found. The bottom of this cave is sixty feet below the tumicl level and both caves appear to he In the fissure and arc mineralized on all sides. A drift has been startoJ from tlie bottom bot-tom of this second cave oast on the fissure and the samo mineralization is found as that above on the tunnel level. The cavo was bridged to carry the tunnel, being about fourteen feet in width, and the tunnel tun-nel has beon extended about forty-five foot beyond tho cave. Tho ore In tho face of this drift is the best yet opened tip In the property and the ore-bearing fissure fis-sure is found to bo contlnuoua. A raise was also sent up In this fiSBiiro twenty-five twenty-five feet In front of this cave all In ors. Measurements of l"ie fissuro just completed com-pleted gives It a length of 200 feet of orc-bearlng orc-bearlng ground that has boon dcvelopod by 100 feet In height and an average" of five feet. The management proposes to continue Its development and block out th0 deposits in order that regular shipments ship-ments may be started at as carlv a dale as conditions will permit. Contracts for tho ore have been arranged ao that the company knows just what margin It has. The ore Is so soft that It Is easily and cheaply mined, a coal auger being ii.scd Instead of a drill. |
