Christcnscn will bo retained at tho head of tho Salt Lake public school system. This was tho unanimous agreement, of thc mcmbcra of the board of education, reached at 11 o'clock last night after a secret session lasting an hour and a half following the regular board meeting. Announcement was made at thc conclusion conclu-sion of the meeting that it had boen decided de-cided to re-elect Mr. Christcnscn for another an-other term following" tho expiration of his present torm next June. This action, however, was Informal and is not binding, it was explained, inasmuch as the board has not thc authority to formally reappoint reap-point tho superintendent until his present pres-ent term lias expired. Unless something unforeseen arises Mr. Christonscn will be reappointed at tho proper tlmo, It was announced. Opposition to Mr. Christcnscn developed devel-oped a month ago when one of his supporters sup-porters sought to have thc board go on record as favortng the engagement of the superintendent for another torm. This was opposed and Uic matter was laid ovor until last night It did not come up at tho regular meeting, hut the board members went Into executive session as soon as regular business had been disposed dis-posed of.
