Barnes, attorney at-torney general, and K. O. Lcatherwood, district attorney, wero assigned to the prosecution in tho disbarment proceedings proceed-ings against Vvillard Hanson, a local attorney. Hanson has rotaiucd' Dickson, Ellis, Ellis and. Schulder, Thomas Ma-rioueaux, Ma-rioueaux, William H. King and Walker T. Guutor to defend him from the charges made against him-by the grievance griev-ance commit too of tho stato bar association. asso-ciation. Tho most hotly contested disbarment proceeding ever held in Utah is expected. ex-pected. Attorneys for Hanson j'estcrday lilod with tho supreme court a motion to dismiss' tho proceedings on the ground that the complaint is faulty, insufficient and is not sworn to by anyone who alleges al-leges tho charges to be l'a'cts. At tho same time his attorneys tiled Hanson 's certificate of admission to tho stato bar. as required by the supreme court, and it will bo- held by the clerk of the court until tho case has been decided. Hanson is thus restrained from practicing prac-ticing while his case is pending. Tho motion to dismiss will be argued before the supremo court next Monday mprniug. Hanson is chargedi -with moral turpitude turpi-tude on three counts and is alleged to be unlit to bo intrusted with the responsibilities of an attorney'. Tt is alleged that he bribed officers lo gain immunity from arrest for certain confidence con-fidence men who -were his clients. He also is charged with having aided the confidence men iu plying their unlawful unlaw-ful practices. The third charge is that he stole evidence from the police station sta-tion after bribing police officers. |
