| Show A YOUNG GIRLS CRIME A maiden kills her fathers employed Emp loye STORIES AHO THE CAUSE OF THE the victim in the act of taking i bite when the fatal was fired alie result of using Onen dins special to the CITY mo dec 19 A terrible tragedy waa enacted five miles below bakersville Bakers ville in callaway county today between 12 and 1 which resulted in the instant deatle of julius hopper a german 26 years of age whose home is in aliis county at the hands of a young lady miss louisa epperson the story of the tragedy is told by a young brollier brot lier of alie deceased who witnessed the shooting the girls father abraham eppe son owns a large stock farm and employs considerable help tlc alc deceased and his brother together with several negroes nc groes have lately been employed on the farm sunday evening philip akerson the son of a neighboring farm i er called on alie young lady and spent some time in her company this morn inythe deceased commenced tormenting the girl about her beaux and made some remark at which she took great of fence and warned him if it was repeated she would kill him hopper promised to say nothing more about the matter but at dinner limo he commenced I 1 again in the presence of alie girl she quickly went into another room and re turned with a revolver no one was aware that she had a weapon or even thought that she seriously intended to carry out her threat in ignorance of this peril hopper continued to use the language which offended the girl and without a second warning she raised the pistol and fired one of llie negro hands grabbed her arm bit too late hopper was in the act of taking a bito of meat when the fatal shot was fired the bullet etrick just above the right ear tha brother of the dead man fled from tha house at once and after notifying a justice of the peace and some neighbors started to this city on foot he arrived here late this evening and was nearly crazy he secured a tonight to night and left to notify his parents who live fourteen miles from liere the deceased was ag years old and unmarried the young lady is 19 years old and bears an excellent name her father is a prominent farmer well known and highly respected it ia believed eliat the girl thought that Hooper was attacking lier character and hence committed the deed it was impossible tonight to night to obtain additional information as the farm is remote from a telegraph office and there is no means of crossing the river near the scene of the tragedy the father of the girl is well known in this city and the news of the shooting spread rapidly |
