| Show FATAL ACCIDENT ON THE da RG A fireman and engineer killed ami valuable property destroyed from wednesdays DAILY A special from halsenberg Wal colorado says A shocking accident occurred on the denver kio grande last night conr miles west of here in which an engineer and fireman were instantly killed and a large amount of property destroyed st A freight train left la veta made of two engines twenty two cars of cattle ten freight cars and caboose alie train soon broke into three parts and then there began a race for life as the middle section was hose from the caboose with no bra kernan on it the cokines ran about three miles at a rate of over a mile a minute down a grade ninety feet to the mile and here the middle section of twenty four cars loaded with cattle and lumber overtook them the front engine escaped but the second was completely enveloped in a great mass of flying wreckage which buried the engineer and fireman killing them instantly portions of lumber of the flying cars were thrown over feet when the collision occurred seven cars of cattle and eight cars of lumber were piled up in alie wreck and nearly all the cattle killed or horribly mangled william giryer the dead engineer keayes a wife aad one child who reside in pueblo thomas baker the fireman was single and also lived in pueblo W H feuger and D W edmonson both brakemen were injured and were taken to the companas comp anys hospital at pueblo |
