Engineer William Koll is held responsible respon-sible for the collision last Thursday between be-tween a light engine and an extr freight train on the Oregon Short Line, near Cache Junction, in which Fireman Lon F. Morford lost his life. In the finding Monday Mon-day of the joint board of investigation, composed of railway officials and outside citizens. This probably means that the unfortunate unfortu-nate engineer, who now hovers between llfo and death at the J.-. D. S. hospital, will ho discharged from tho rmploy of the railway company. .Morford, tho board found, contributed to the wreck. The board, composed of F. C. Schramm of this city and Robert Anderson of Logan, Lo-gan, outsiders, and Superintendent A. B. Stevenson and Assistant Superintendent O. B. Chalmers. II. J. Ilarrln. Georg: Ross nnd F. A. Lcnte of the railway company, com-pany, met in Superintendent Stevenson's office, with Stevenson presiding. The part of the finding of the board fixing the blame is as follows: "That extra U32 failed to comply with the order to meet extra 7.0 west at Cache Junction. We therefore consider Engineer William Koll responsible tor this accident, and Fireman L. F. Morford Mor-ford contributing to same by not knowing know-ing definitely before starting what the orders were, as required by rule 752." Morford's funeral will be held from Hall's undertaking parlors at 2 o'ciock this afternoon, with tho Rev. P, A. Simp-kin Simp-kin In charge. The Unity quartette will sing. The body will bo sent, to Klen-mond. Klen-mond. Kan., for burial. |
