Show BUILDING TRADES COUNCIL ORGANIZED Means Improved Conditions for 4500 Members, and Arbitration Arbi-tration of Strikes. One of tho most Important organisations organisa-tions formed In this city In years was born last night when a new Bulldlne Trades Council was organized. The new organization will be affiliated with th building trades department of the American Amer-ican Federation of Labor, and it starts out with a membership of 4500, nine unions having Joined tho council. The new organization Is purely local, and means much to the members as well as a. square deal for tho employers. Tho meeting of the unions which resulted re-sulted ln the formation of this new organization, or-ganization, was hold at 51 West Second faouth street, and wa3 largely attended. Tho officers elected wore: Prosldent, E. A. Dunsby; vice-president, S. J. Swyers; secretary, William Desmond; financial secretary, James Irvine; treasurer, C. H. Bradford; sergeant at omw, Joseph Edwards. Ed-wards. A press committee composed of E. A. Dunsby, J, E, Munsey and H. A. Labhardt was also chosen. The unions affiliated with the council aro the steel and Iron workers, shcot metal workers, metal lathers, painters, hoisting engineers, mill men of the carpenters' organisation, electricians, plumbers and stone cutters. The new organization takes the placo of tho Structural Building Trades Alliance, I which was affiliated with the American Federation of Labor, and which disbanded some time ago, Tho council means the affiliation of all unions ln this city connected con-nected in any way wun building operations. opera-tions.
