Show CITY GOVERNMENT IS DISCUSSED 81 WOMEN Members of the American Club Opposed to Galveston and Des Moines Plans. The regular monthly meeting of tho Woman's American club was hold Monday Mon-day aftornoou at tho homo of Mrs. M. Harbach, 922 Third avenue. Thero was a very large attendance of tho members, mem-bers, in addition to a number of strangers being present. Tho ladica unanimously decided to appoint a legislative legis-lative committoo of nine persons to appear beforo tho ncjet session of the stato legislature iu behalf of tho establishment estab-lishment of a detention homo for girls in this city. Tho committee will bo appointed later. The Galveston and Des Moines plans of municipal government wero discussed dis-cussed at somo length, and tho consensus con-sensus of opinion of thoso present was in opposition to cither plan. At the S resent time Prof. Joseph II. Beale of arvard university is advocating another an-other form of mumcipul administration, which it is said if. different from either the Galveston or Des Moines plane. It was decided that the president of the club. Mrs. Josoph M. Cohen, should communicate with Prof. Beal concerning concern-ing his plan or government, and that at the nest meeting she should present a paper on tho three forms of citj- administration, ad-ministration, explaining how they differ and how they could be applied to a city situated liko Salt Lake. A number of new subscriptions were secured for Mrs. Gertrude Major's new book, the "Revelation in tho Mountains." The book is being published pub-lished at tho present time, and will bo off tho press verv shortly'.' Tho "Revelation "Reve-lation in the Mountains" tells, in a very clear and vivid mannor, about tho practices and customs of the Mormons. It is being sold under tho direction of tho Woman's American club. |
