On account of tho estimates submitted by tho departments containing few new subjects for consideration, it, is believed that record time will be made on several supply measures. The committee on naval affairs began hearings on the naval appropriation bill. . The estimates amounted to $137,530,388. Rear Admiral John 13. Pillsbury of the bureau of navigation and Rear Admiral Raymond P. Rodgers of tho bureau of supplies aud account explained tho estimates esti-mates for their bureaus. The committoc on appropriations has ncarl completed the legislative, executive ex-ecutive and judicial appropriation bill. The. postoffice committee will tako up the supply bill for that department of the government tomorrow. The committee on Indian affairs, of which Vice President-elect Sherman is chairman, will begin work Thursda3' reviewing re-viewing tho estimates submitted by the interior department of the care of tho Indians during the coming 3-car. |
